20 processing centers and their 378 members would build their capacity and consolidate their business.

The processing centers do not have the modern processing equipment, in the process they use very basic and hand operated equipment and tools for processing, filling and packaging of the products.  Last but not least, the association needs to focus on a marketing strategy to increase sales; making tasting events to promote their products (make sure of having quality control before those events) and also make special discounts (3 for the price of 2 type) so the Afghan community prefers BANO Products.

In order to develop the processing capacity and to take advantage of the market demand Herat Capable Women Social Association applied for a loan from ADF in order to purchase raw materials (fresh fruits, fresh vegetable, sugar, empty packages, and labeling). This loan will be utilized by 20 processing centers member of the association, this way the association will be able to deliver better services to its members and, if the products meet the production and packaging demands of the local market the member’s business will grow.

The loan is designed to provide technical assistance and marketing support to Herat Capable Women Social Association to increase their production, conduct food safety + hygiene training, hire one food processing specialist and purchase fruit and vegetable packaging machine, fruit and vegetable dryer solar and conduct promotional marketing activities such as design and print of banners, posters and brochures. These interventions will help the association to find suitable markets for their final products around the region and to offer products processed with higher quality standards.

The ADF loan enabled HCWSA to conduct training for members of the association that are involved in processing and packaging, Personal Hygiene and Safety Food Handling, Purchase of fruit and vegetable processing and packaging machine including fruit and vegetable drying machine for Herat Capable Women Social Association.
